I own a lot of lip products ranging from the most matte lipstick to the glossiest of lip glosses. Despite my ever-growing collection, I tend to gravitate more towards the glossy end of the spectrum. They’re much easier to reapply and you’re less likely to need a mirror to do so.
When Revlon sent me the latest colors in their Super Lustrous™Glass Shine Lipstick collection, a cross between brilliant shine and color payoff, I decided to put them to the test.
The lipsticks claim to “steal the show with brilliant shine and color that instantly melt onto lips whenever you swipe it. This formula has an irresistible butter feel that wraps lips in luscious, vibrant color that doesn’t feather or bleed.” These are bold claims!
In swatching these lipsticks, I’ve come to the following conclusions:
- The formula is in fact tremendously smooth, hydrating, and glides on effortlessly. So much so that I would caution leaving them in a too hot environment for fear of melting/breaking.
- The color payoff is present! They’re also buildable so you can opt for a sheer look during the daytime and up the intensity at night.
- It provides a shine that will catch the light. It does not shine like a gloss by any means, but it’ll give you just the right touch.
- It has a sweet shea butter smell that makes application nice!
One of my pain points with these lipsticks is the packaging. Like most drugstore items, there’s a sticker sealing the package to deter tampering. You can’t twist off the sticker as you’ll risk twisting and damaging the lipstick before having the chance to apply it. You have to painstakingly unwrap it and once done, it leaves a very sticky reside on the otherwise sleek packaging.
It’s a small irritant but given all of the pro’s, and the cost ($9.99), I think it’s a good buy for the individual who wants no frill color and shine.
Check out my swatch video here and let me know how you think they performed!
